Team Building Activities: Mountain Madness Games

We have a very large selection of "Mountain Madness" team building activities games that are at the heart of all of our team buiding events, whether it's an Amazing Race, a Mini-Olympics or any other team building activities in Alberta. The games are all of fairly short duration and can be used, in all kinds of combinations, to create your own personalized team building activity in Alberta. They are also available in almost any location, though some are season dependant. Many of them can be run indoors as well. Conference resorts and hotels, lend themselves well to indoor programs.

Canadiana Games

> Animal Puzzler: Putting a puzzle together may sound simple but your group will be challenged with this event as you try to put together giant 1-meter size puzzle pieces! The object of this activity is for the group to work as a team to put together as many animal puzzles as possible in a limited time. The game gets really crazy when lots of teams all try to put their own puzzle together at the same time!

> Giant Ski Race: If one person on a pair of skis is efficient, then obviously 4 people on a pair of skis are more efficient, right? We have set up a slalom course to test this theory. Using teamwork, each group must step at the same time, turn together and reach the finish line as fast as they can. The teams that work best together will finish the fastest. Each pair of skis is 10 ft. long and 4 or 5 people at a time will have to strap themselves on to a pair.

> Junkyard Dogsled: When dog power is absent, we can rely on human power. One of our most popular team building activities where first your team builds a dogsled out of materials you might find in a junk pile plus lots of duct tape and then rather than trying to tame a pack of snarling pooches, your team will muster thoroughbred racers from its own ranks. The rest of the team provides ballast in the sleds as the teams "mush" to the finish line! Teams are given a supply of junk-type materials and they have a limited time in which to build a sled that will be strong enough to pull one team member. All other team members do the pulling!

Active Games

> Stuffed Bunny Bungee: Strap yourself into a padded harness and then attach a bungee cord to your back. Why not? In this game, your team's challenge will be to collect as many ferocious stuffed bunnies as you can and bring them back to a central location. Of course the bunnies are all located just out of easy reach while you're attached to your bungee and that means you're going to have reaaaaaach as far as you can without being pulled unceremoniously back! Oops, missed again.

> Tree Maze: One of our most popular team building activities. Everyone loves the challenge of a maze! This exceptional rope and harness maze is a little more interesting. Team members clip themselves to a rope and must then walk or run the entire length of the rope as it twists around trees and over and under itself a number of times - while carrying a glass of water in one hand. When team members reach the other end they dump the water into a bucket and the next team member then starts the process all over again. All team members participate and the first team to carry the equivalent of a pail of water from one end of the course to the other wins!

> Snowshoe Obstacle Course: Who knew snowshoeing could be so much fun? Team members must get over, under and through a maze of obstacles to complete this relay-style event, all the while wearing traditional wooden snowshoes. This game is run as a relay race around a circular route. Each team will begin at a different location on the circle. Participants will have to negotiate their way around the course and obstacles while wearing traditional wooden snowshoes. Optional: Snowshoer is blindfolded and guided by another team member.

> Mountain Bike Obstacle Course: You are a champion mountain bike racer and it’s the Canada Cup. Normally you’d be racing on real mountain trails, but this year all the trails have been closed due to bears. A challenging track has been created which reflects the obstacles and difficulties found on a real trail except that on this course you are not allowed to get off your bike! There are sections of the course that correspond to challenges that can be found on the trail including: fallen logs, low branches, sharp corners, a narrowing track requiring other teammate assistance and a flat tire which must be changed without rider touching the ground!

> Broomball: Looking for high energy team building activities? This traditional game is great to play at any time of year. It's fun and safe and gets everybody out and being active.

Strategy Games

> Crazy Compass: It is a logistical and planning challenge! This timed team building game challenges your team to build a circuit of rope using a variety of directional markers cut in 30, 60, 90, 135 and 180 degree angles. The team completing this task in the shortest time is the winner. Each team will have to use 10 directional markers to lay out the route that the length of rope is to take. At the point where the directional marker lays on the rope, the rope has to then follow the direction the marker indicates. The object is to place the markers in a way so that both ends of the rope will eventually touch.

> Amazing Maze: This game is similar to one you may have played as a kid. Remember the small box with the tilting table where you controlled the movement of a marble around a series of obstacles? Well this game is the same except... it's much, much bigger and your team of 4 will each control one corner of this large table. The object of the game is to effectively communicate among your team so that you can move a ball around an obstacle course without losing the ball through one of the pitfalls!

> Shark Infested Waters: Imagine your team is stranded on a deserted island…and you’re all hungry! There's no food except a single can of beans floating in the middle of a shark infested pond. You can't go in the water, and the only things you have to retrieve the can of beans are a few sections of rope. Some good creativity thinking and teamwork will solve your problem, otherwise you'll go hungry for a long time!
