Heli-Hiking Location & Season
Numerous locations for heli-hiking are available from the Alpine Helicopters base in Canmore. Most commonly we use a site known locally as "Charles Stewart" This location is about 6-8 minutes flying time north of Canmore. Even though it is a short flight from civilization it is a complete wilderness that sees very few visitors other than Bighorn Sheep, Hoary Marmots, and other heli-hikers.
It offers a variety of different walking options from very, very, easy meadow walks to strenuous ridge walks. It borders Banff National Park.
From late June until the end of September, you can enjoy the thrill of a helicopter flight combined with some high alpine walking in the Canadian Rockies. There's just no better way to hike on top of the world!
Heli-Hiking Meeting Place
We meet you at the Alpine Helicopters base in Canmore one hour prior to flight time. Private transportation from Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise can be arranged at an additional cost.
