Fortress Mountain Hiking - New this Fall!
Fortress Mountain and White Mountain Adventures have partnered to offer guided hiking this Autumn. Hike through the alpine and sub-alpine enviros of Fortress Mountain where you get to see some of the best scenery in Kananskis Country!
Until now the alpine ridges and meadows at Fortress Mountain Resort have been very difficult to access but for remainder of the autumn we will be offering ½ day guided walks which includes transportation from the bottom of the access road. This is some of the best alpine hiking in Kananaskis Country and it is now within easy reach!
This new guided hike through the alpine and sub-alpine environs of Fortress Mountain Resort is unmatched in quality of wilderness and scenery and has been rarely visited in the last 10 years! Fortress Ridge and the Canadian Ridge offer some of the best scenery in Kananaskis Country and the vertical limestone walls of Mt. James Walker and The Fortress are imposing sights to say the least. Of added bonus at this time of year are the golden Larch scattered throughout the forests. Led by one of our experienced naturalist/guides the hike will be about 2.5 hours in length and between 5 and 7 km’s in length.
As some of the hike will take place over terrain without trails and there will be elevation gains of up to 200 metres, it is ideally suited for hikers of reasonable fitness who are comfortable walking over a variety of terrain. Be one of the first- and the few- to revisit this alpine wonderland. Call White Mountain Adventures today for reservations. Numbers are strictly limited.
